What this place offers

Information

This charming apartment is located a stone’s throw away from Picasso’s place of birth. If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy the historic centre and to be close to the Sea, look no further. This apartment is unique for its authenticity with its Andalusian building character and modern newly renovated touches. It is ideal for 1 or 2 couples with or without children. You can walk everywhere (museums, markets, restaurants and the beach). The kitchen is fully-equipped and we implement a strict cleaning protocol.

Wide open space living dining and kitchen area with 2 typical Andalusian balconies and a side window that allows circular airflow. The wooden ceiling and windows are other authentic features. The corridor leads you to 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with a large shower cabin. The apartment has just been renovated and the kitchen comes with oven, dishwasher, microwaves, fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, etc.

The historic building has 2 floors and 2 apartments per floor. The hall and staircase are common areas to all apartments. The neighbours are lovely and friendly people.

The apartment is located on the second floor. There is no lift in this historic building so please note that you will need to walk up the stairs.

Guests staying longer than a week may book an extra cleaning service which would cost 25 euros and include fresh bedding and towels.

Due to its amazing location, from the apartment you can enjoy watching some important local events:

  • ‘Fiesta de San Juan’ each June 23rd there are the council’s fireworks from La Farola, 2 min away
  • ‘Semana Santa’ in April the ‘Cofradía de La legión’, either Holy Thursday or Holy Friday promenades right in front of the building.
  • ‘Feria’ in August there are Council Fireworks twice on the first and last days, normally Friday are the inauguration fireworks and a Sunday 10 days later the closure fireworks. They take place at La Farola, 2 minutes away from the apartment.
  • Christmas Market “Parque de Málaga”, November 30th to January 6th from 11:00am to 8:00pm at Paseo del Parque.
  • Weekly Artisan’s Market “El Zoco de Muelle Uno”, each Sunday 12pm to 7pm at Key One, 2 minutes walk from the apartment.

Electric scooters, motorbikes and bicycles are a convenient way of getting around and are available just 2 min from your door. Otherwise walking is always an excellent option from this outstanding location. Everything is in reasonable walking distance. We are near the beach, shops, restaurants, museums and historical centre monuments.

On Foot

Please note that all important places and historical buildings in town are in walking distance. You may not need any transportation at all. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Taxis

In any case, if you get tired or need to carry heavy shopping on your way back to the apartment, taxis are really affordable in Malaga, especially in comparison to other places in Europe, Australia or the United States.
Regular Taxis – The minimum fee is 3.80 euros. A taxi to the airport costs between 20 and 27 euros depending on the date, time and traffic.
– Unitaxi – To order a taxi to collect you from the apartment, I recommend using Unitaxi. They will send you a regular taxi to any location. They will give you a phone call 5min before their arrival: unitaxi.es
– Uber and Cabify – these companies also operate in this area.

Buses

The following city lines stop 4 min on foot from the flat and cost 1.40 euros ride:
3 – Puerta Blanca – Alameda Principal – El Palo (Olías) This one is great if you fancy going to El Corte Inglés or the Train Station María Zambrano
11 – Universidad – Alameda Principal – El Palo (P. Virginia) This one is great if you fancy having some traditional food in Pedregalejo’s Sea Walk or El Palo Sea Walk.
32 – Av. Andalucía – Limonar – Mayorazgo
33 – Av. Andalucía – Cerrado de Calderón
34 – Av. Andalucía – Pedregalejo
35 – Av. Andalucía – Gibralfaro
40 – Paseo de la Farola – Sacaba Beach Sea Side Walk to West Malaga.
A (Airport Express) – Paseo del Parque or Plaza Torrijos – Airport. It is a 24/7 line with a 20-25 minutes frequency. It costs 3 euros per ride and the stop is located 1000 metres from the flat, 15 min walk from the flat.

Luggage storage

If you need a luggage storage service, there are a couple of options near the apartment:

1. Calle Peña: LOCK N GO Luggage+Key Lockers

670 41 70 31

2. Plaza del Teatro: BagsCare Luggage Storage

691 96 16 86

https://goo.gl/maps/GrGpUGabtrRAhvQZ6

If you have a lot of luggage, you could stop right in front of the property just to drop it off at the apartment. You may stop right at the beginning of the street over the yellow line or alternatively in front of Hostal La Siesta which is 30 metres further ahead over the zigzag yellow lines. I would recommend that one guest stays within the vehicle during the drop off. Normally stopping there for 5 minutes should be fine: https://goo.gl/maps/7UibbTrQrTno77go6

After dropping off, you will actually not need the car at all as the apartment location is ideal to reach all iconic landmarks and the beach on foot. Please note that in general, finding a free parking space in the historic city centre is difficult because it is mostly pedestrianised. Nevertheless, you can arrive right at the apartment’s building front door by car. It is also a bit easier to park here than in the rest of the city centre. In any case, if you can’t find an available street parking spot, you can easily use a paying parking. Here are some parking options in the neighbourhood:

1. The street and streets surrounding the apartment are in a white zone lined area which means you can park for free. Please check you never park on a yellow line nor in front of a private parking which is called ‘vado’.

2. In case you can’t find a free parking space available in Lagunillas, I recommend you look for one at ‘El Ejido’ area which is next to the University where there are cars coming and going all the time: https://goo.gl/maps/SmkQ1b7nZNfCka4e8

3. There are also some underground and building paying parking spaces near by:

The borough is in the historic centre and also the beginning of Lagunillas which is the new trendy neighbourhood due to its artistic atmosphere and cultural activity. The apartment is 1 minute away from Plaza de la Merced and 3-15 min to all monuments, principal museums, landmarks and the beach. There is little traffic in comparison to other city centre areas. Furthermore, it is possible to park for free at the apartment’s road and surrounding streets as they are marked with white lines and you do not need to show a resident permit.

Picasso’s Place of Birth is 1 minute away, Picasso Museum 5 min on foot, Calle Larios about 10 min, the Cathedral and Carmen Thyssen Museum about 8 min. The Pompidou Centre of Contemporary Art and the docks area known as Muelle Uno (Quay One) and Muelle Dos o El Palmeral (Quay Two) are about 15 min on foot.
